One-Of-A-Kind Periodic Table Wall Unit

A physician who collects samples of the elements commissioned this custom wall-mounted shelf unit, designed precisely in the shape of the periodic table. To bring this unique concept to life, I crafted the entire unit from solid walnut hardwood. I suggested integrating mini-LED lighting into each individual compartment to beautifully illuminate and highlight his collection. The final piece serves as both a highly functional display and a striking focal point for the room. The client was so pleased with the finished wall unit that he immediately had me build the matching lower cabinet underneath it.

Custom Tool Chest with Concealed Compartments

This custom corner tool chest was designed and built to serve as a functional tool chest that presents as a premium piece of living room furniture. Crafted from solid cherry hardwood, the upper half opens to reveal dedicated hanging tool storage, while the lower section features full-extension drawers for organized access to other tools, fasteners, and adhesives. Both upper and lower sections feature beautiful hardwood inlay. To maximize the utility of the piece, the design integrates three secret compartments. These provide for concealing valuables as well as personal protection items. This project illustrates how specialized utility and elegant home aesthetics can come together in a single custom build.

Creating A Special Place

This custom wall unit was commissioned by a Gold Star daughter to honor the memory of her late mother and father who both fell during military service. Built with deep respect and care, the piece serves as a dedicated space to showcase their medals, photos, and military memorabilia. Every detail was crafted to ensure their legacy is preserved beautifully and securely within the home. Upon final installation, the client shared that having this centerpiece brings immense comfort, keeping her parents’ memory close every single day. It was a profound honor to collaborate on a project that holds such deep, lifelong personal significance.

Sometimes The Problem Is The Solution

This customer came to me saying that she wanted a chest to hold wet items in her mudroom. Her issue was that where she wanted the chest was where a floor vent was, and she was concerned about blocking that off. The customer walks her dogs in the woods every day and needed a practical way to dry wet boots and outdoor apparel upon returning home. By positioning the standalone chest directly over an existing HVAC floor vent, I engineered a concealed ventilation system that routes air through the unit to dry gear effortlessly. Inside, a custom removable plexiglass tray catches water and mud to prevent any damage to the chest, alongside a dedicated section for clipping and hanging wet gloves and scarves. The hinged top of the chest serves as a sturdy bench for changing footwear, turning a structural limitation into a highly functional, everyday home solution. We factor in lifestyle with every build.

Home Office In A Spare Bedroom

This custom wall unit was built for a client launching a new business from a spare bedroom where space was limited. To maximize the room’s footprint, the design seamlessly integrates spacious flanking bookcases with a dedicated workstation desk right in the center. Crafted from premium cherry wood, the entire piece was finished with an English Chestnut stain to deliver a warm, professional, and sophisticated aesthetic. The resulting installation balances high-capacity office functionality with the beauty of fine furniture, creating an inspiring and productive home office environment. It perfectly demonstrates how a standard spare room can be transformed into a beautiful, fully operational headquarters.

The Illuminated Blenko Glass Display

We designed and built a custom display unit specifically tailored for a client’s extensive Blenko glass collection. The primary challenge was creating built-in lighting that would showcase the vibrant glass pieces from below without creating harsh glare, hotspots, or reflections on the surface.

To solve this, we developed a proprietary under-glass lighting method built directly into the hardwood frame. This technique produces a warm, uniform glow that illuminates the glassware from its base while keeping the light source completely invisible. As shown in the photos, the glass top remains crisp and clear, with the only visible reflections coming from the room’s ambient ceiling lights. This project is a prime example of how we combine high-end woodworking with custom functional engineering.

Built-in Bookcases with Concealed Closet Access

For this family room remodel, the homeowners wanted to update an existing, dated built-in unit flanked by storage closets while giving the entire wall a seamless, fully built-in appearance. We reimagined the space by engineering custom, flush-mount bookcases that perfectly conceal the original closet areas behind classic bookcases. The side bookcase units double as secret doors, opening smoothly via a hidden mechanical lever. Even upon close inspection, the precision joinery completely hides the functionality, eliminating visual clutter while maintaining full access to everyday storage.
